About

Michael Lavrisha

Hello! This is Michael Lavrisha, the man behind Manalive Software. I started my web development career back in 2006 when I was a banjo player. I had a hobby of transcribing songs for the banjo. I found a simple place to put them online. But then I wanted to organize them by artist and title. So I started looking more into backend technologies and I ended up spending more time working on the website than playing the banjo.

For the last 10 years I worked for VMware Tanzu Labs (née Pivotal Labs), an agile, extreme programming, and lean software consultancy. I had the tremendous opportunity to consult for 16 different organizations, work on 22 different products, and work with clients that ranged from healthcare, banking, startups, to government organizations.

I am well versed in test driven development, paired programming, domain driven design, software architecture, and teaching these concepts as well.

Why "Manalive"?

Great question! Manalive is a book written by G.K. Chesterton. It's a book about rediscovering the things right in front of you. But don't take my word for it, read the book! It's fantastic (or at least read a summary).
